Sunpex was originally established in August 1949 under the name "the Yung Tsang Storage Battery Factory" in Chiayi, Taiwan. In 1951, it was reorganized and renamed to the "Cheng Kuang Storage Battery Factory".
In 1998, with fifty-years experience in battery development and manufacture, Sunpex devoted itself to the research and development of battery related pollution free products electric vehicles. As of today, Sunpex has developed and manufactured a broad range of products, which include mobility scooters, electric bicycles, and power wheelchairs.
